The Florida city wants to expand beyond the Magic Kingdom, though. Orlando has the potential to become a centre for Web3.0, the metaverse, and related fields including augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence (AI), games, and simulation training.
The metaverse is what David Adelson, the city’s chief innovation officer, sees as the city’s future.
Orlando, for as long as I can remember, has always been defined as one thing: the magical kingdom of Disney World ,” said David Adelson, chief innovation officer for the city. “ And so what’s interesting is that behind all of this, which is great, has been innovation and technology. For each of the sectors and building blocks that make up the metaverse, Orlando has been playing it for a very long time .”
The metaverse is what drives Orlando’s business.
The metaverse might be worth $5 trillion by 2030, according to a new McKinsey & Co. analysis. Orlando, however, is a vital component of this enormous business because to augmented reality and virtual reality.
The market for defense-related augmented reality and virtual reality is estimated to be worth $6 billion for just the city. According to David Adelson, engine creator Unity Technologies has the highest concentration of Unity licenses in the city of Orlando as a result of the emphasis on defense.
He said, “The developers are in Orlando. The Florida region is among the most active in the world for virtual reality and augmented reality. Many small businesses are working on creating virtual reality or augmented reality applications for games, education, and entertainment.
